BLADON.
Sudden Death.- Mr. Brunner (Coroner) held an enquiry at the "Old White Horse" Inn, on Monday, into the circumstances attending the death of Ann Pratley, the wife of a labourer, who died suddenly during Friday night. The husband, James Pratley, on being sworn, deposed that he resided at Hensington, and was a farm labourer. The deceased, who was 61 years of age, had been subject to spasms, at intervals, for a very long time, and had been attended by Mr. Taylor, surgeon, of Woodstock. She appeared to be in her usual health on Friday night, but shortly after retiring to bed she was seized with an attack of spasms. Witness got up and fetched his daughter Mrs. Bishop, both of them returning to the house directly, but before reaching the bedroom his wife was dead.- Mr. Frederick Taylor stated that he attended deceased occasionally, as she was afflicted with heart-disease. He last saw her about a month previous. From the appearance of the body he thought that death had resulted from diseased heart.- The jury returned a verdict accordingly. |
