A TRIVIAL CASE.

Elizabeth Walker, was summoned for assaulting a boy named Walter Pratley, at Newland, on the 18th January.

Mary Jane Pratley, mother of the boy, deposed: I am the wife of William Pratley, of Newland. On the 18th January I sent my boy on an errand. When he came back I saw defendant run up to him and strike him on the side of his head with her hand. His ear was swollen, and he suffered from earache all night.

By the Bench: The boy said "Walker" when passing defendant, and that was why she struck him.

Defendant said she did not hit the boy, but only knocked his hat off.

Case dismissed.
