Spencer Parsloe, plasterer, deposed: The deceased is my wife, 24 years of age. On the 3rd of this month, about 10 o'clock at night, I was in the yard in front of my house when Charles Parsloe ran after me and overtook me about 5 yards from my door. I turned round and he struck me on the face and knocked me down; he swore at me and held me, and then my wife opened the door, and Charles Parsloe then let me get up, and I ran to my door and then he struck the deceased on her left eye. Deceased was knocked down into the house. Deceased screamed. Thomas Jackson, Eden Pratley, and Adolphus Parsloe came into the yard after I was struck and before I got up.
Eden Pratley, labourer, of Milton, deposed: I was in Cattell's yard on the 3rd ult. I saw Charles Parsloe strike deceased, when in the doorway, somewhere on the head; she was not knocked down. I was 5 of 6 yards off, and saw all that took place. There was a light in the house, she was only struck once.
