LINCOLN (CITY) QUARTER SESSIONS.
Housebreaking by a Female.
Sarah Cullen and Sarah Ann Cullen, mother and daughter, were indicted for having broken into the dwelling house of Elizabeth Carter and stolen a silver spoon, two brooches, and other articles of female apparel.--James Wells, assistant at Messrs. Shaw and Pratley's, pawnbrokers, deposed to the prisoners pledging certain of the stolen articles at their shop. The careless and contradictory manner in which this witness gave his evidence called forth a severe rebuke from the Recorder, who characterised his conduct as very disgraceful indeed. |

LINCOLN CITY POLICE
Serious Charge against a Watchmaker.--Thos. Smith, watchmaker, St. Mary's-street, was brought up on warrant charged with that he, being the bailee of a gold watch, value £25, the property of Samuel Wright-Wright, Esq., J.P., of Brattleby Hall, did fraudulently convert the same to his own use, and thereby steal the same. A number of pawn tickets were received from prisoner's wife, and from these witness, Mr. W. Mansell, Chief-constable, found that during the last twelve months 41 watches were pledged with Messrs. Shaw and Pratley, and 42 with Messrs. Ward and Pratt, the whole of which were unredeemed ; 23 were pledged in the month of July. |
