LEAFIELD.

INQUEST.

On Thursday in last week, F. Westell, Esq., (Coroner) held an inquest here on the body of Hannah Pratley, of this village, who died on the 11th inst. The following evidence was adduced:-

Jane Dore, of Leafield, deposed:- The deceased is my mother Hannah Pratley, late of Leafield, widow of John Pratley, late of Leafield, labourer. Deceased, who was 84 years old, lived with my husband and myself. She was in good health up to the 2nd of January, when I found her early in the morning lying downstairs insensible on the floor I called for help and my daughter-in-law came in and the doctor was sent for. She became quite sensible on the Monday. On Tuesday morning she became restless and died about 11 o'clock on the 11th of January. She was quite sensible up to her death. I did not notice any change in her.

Frederick Thomas Malsey, of Charlbury, surgeon, deposed:- I saw deceased on Sunday, the 2nd January and found that she had a fractured thigh which was caused by her fall. It went on well. I attended deceased up to her death. There is nothing else remarkable on the body. I saw deceased soon after her death, she died in an apoplectic fit.

A verdict in accordance with the medical testimony was returned.
