WOODSTOCK.

SOUTH WOOTTON PETTY SESSIONS.

Town Hall, Tuesday.- Present:-C.E. Thornhill, Esq., Colonel the Hon. R.C.H. Spencer, and Colonel Thomas.

Game Trespass.- Edwin Holifield, labourer, Finstock, was summoned by Richard Pratley, gamekeeper, for trespassing in pursuit of game upon land in the occupation of Charles Sartoris, Esq., at Northleigh, on the 20th Jan.- Pleaded not guilty.- Wm. Millin, woodman, living at Ramsden, deposed to seeing the defendant with a gun walking about on Mr. Sartoris' field in Northleigh parish. There was game in the field, consisting of pheasants, hares and rabbits. Defendant shot a rabbit and then ran away.- The magistrates fined the defendant £2, and costs 18s 6d., or in default, one month's hard labour.- Committed.

WOODSTOCK.

WOOTTON SOUTH DIVISION PETTY SESSIONS.- Tuesday.

Before H. Barnett, Esq. (Chairman), R.L. Thosby, Esq., and Col. Thomas.

Edwin Holifield, labourer, Finstock, was charged with using 4 snares for the purpose of taking game on land in the occupation of Emanuel Jarvis, at Northleigh, on the 18th March, 1882.- Richard Pratley, a gamekeeper to Mr. Sartoris, proved the offence.- In answer to the charge, the defendant denied being there, but the Bench were satisfied of his guilt. A long list of previous convictions was handed in against him, and he was fined £2 and £1 costs.- Paid.

PETTY SESSIONS.- Friday.

Before Mr. E.S. Harrison (in the chair), Colonel A.E. England, Colonel G. Gosling, and Mr. J.W. Hunt.

Richard Pratley and George Norris, of Islip, labourers, were summoned for trespassing in search of conies on land in the occupation of William Albert Henman, on September 16th.- Defendants pleaded not guilty. Fined 10s. and 7s. costs.
