Assault at Charlbury Club.

William Dolloway, proprietor of a merry-go-round was charged by Jesse Pratley, swing-boat proprietor, with assaulting him at Charlbury, on July 3rd. Mr. Berridge, solicitor, appeared for Dolloway.

Alice Dolloway, daughter of the defendant in the above case, also summoned Isabella Pratley, daughter of the above complainant, for assaulting her on the same day. It appeared that on the day in question the parties were at Charlbury Club, when a quarrel took place between Alice Dolloway and Isabella Pratley. After the girls had been quarrelling for some time, Mrs. Pratley appeared on the scene, and it was alleged struck Alice Dolloway. Jesse Pratley and his son were about interfering in the matter, when William Dolloway came up. Jesse Pratley alleged that he was struck by Dolloway and knocked down. A number of witnesses were called on either side, and after a patient hearing of the case, the Bench fined Dolloway 15s. or 14 days, and dismissed the case against Isabella Pratley.
