[News along the Borders.]
The following cases came on for hearing before the Swindon magistrates last week:-
Edward Loveridge, 20, pedler, of Lechlade, and Henry Pratley, 30, lodging house keeper, of Lechlade, were charged with damaging mowing grass at Inglesham. There was also another charge against the defendants of illegally fishing in the river Thames. For the defendants it was asked that the cases be adjourned for a week, on grounds that the summons for damaging grass was only a "catch summons" to secure a fishing conviction that being a point at issue. The question was one of importance to anglers from London to Cricklade. The Chairman said the cases would be adjourned on the defendants paying costs, £2 13s. 6d. the money being paid, an adjournment for a week was ordered. |
