John Boon and William Long have been this week committed to our county gaol for trial at the next Assizes, the former charged with stealing five bells, from the house of Robert Collier, at Witney; and the latter charged with stealing a quantity of hay, the property of John Prattley at Leafield. |

CHARLBURY.
Forest of Wychwood.- On Tuesday, the 13th of June, William Fry Channell, sergeant at law, Francis Offly Martin, and Nathan Wetherell, of Lincolns Inn, Esquires, barristers at law, being the commissioners, with Hans Buck, Esq., their secretary, duly appointed under and according to the provisions of the "Wychwood disafforesting act, 1853, assembled at the Bell Hotel, to ascertain the boundaries of the said forest at Wychwood, including therein certain detached lands, situated in the parishes of Shipton, Ascott, and Shorthampton, and lying in three distinct portions, and of the several coppices and other lands adjacent or near to the said forest, and being known as purlieus of the said forest by distinct boundary lines. The sittings commenced with open court at twelve o'clock but long before that hour the steward of the forest A.L. Rawlinson, Esq. and also James Westell, T. Lee, T.J. Wagner, R. Diner, Francis Bowler, Linnell, and Wood Esqrs., and Messrs. Bateman,Gillett, J. and R. Pratt, Edwards, Amith, Pratley, Collins, Vokins, Clifton, Baskett, Hiatt, Howse, and others interested in this matter. As also Morris, Poole, Pratley, Smith, and Goff, keepers of the forest, and Mr. Robert Morris, head woodman for the crown, had all duly met. Very lengthened arguments took place on some points, and the affable manner in which each applicant was attentively heard by the learned commissioners and the final adjustment was generally satisfactory. |

A man named Puffett, while at a considerable height, fell on Thursday last, from a rick on the farm of Mr. Pratley, Leafield, fracturing his collar bone. He is, however, progressing favourably. |

Full Will: |
I John Pratley of Leafield in the County of Oxford, Farmer, hereby revoke all Wills, Codicils, and other testamentary dispositions heretofore made by me, and declare this to be my last Will and Testament. I devise all those two Freehold Cottages or Tenements with the hovels and gardens thereto belonging situate at Ramsden in the said county of Oxford, unto and to the use of my Nephew John Pratley his heirs and assigns for ever. I devise all those three Cottages or Tenements with the hovels gardens and land thereto belonging situate at White Oak Green in the Hamlet of Hailey in the said County of Oxford unto and to the use of my Nephew Thomas Pratley, his heirs and assigns for ever. I devise all that Freehold Cottage or Tenement with the Garden thereto belonging situate at Leafield aforesaid, and now in the occupation of Thomas Pratley, unto and to the use of my Nephew William Pratley, his heirs and assigns for ever. I devise all that Freehold Cottage or Tenement with its appurtenances situate at Leafield aforesaid and adjoining to the last described premises and now in the occupation of James Empson, unto and to the use of Thomas Pratley (Son of Caleb Pratley deceased) his heirs and assigns for ever. I devise all that Freehold Cottage or Tenement with its appurtenances, situate at Leafield aforesaid adjoining or near to the last described premises, and now in the occupation of Elizabeth Pratley unto and to the use of Reuben Pratley (Son of the said Caleb Pratley deceased) his heirs and assigns for ever. I devise all those three Cottages or Tenements with their appurtenances, situate at Leafield aforesaid and now in the respective occupations of Robert Empson, William Hadland and Absolom Lock, unto and to the use of the said William Hadland, his heirs and assigns for ever. I devise all that Freehold Cottage or Tenement with the Garden thereto belonging situate at Leafield aforesaid, and now in the occupation of John Brown, unto and to the use of my Nephew Charles Pratley, his heirs and assigns for ever. I devise all that Freehold Cottage or Tenement, with the hovel and garden thereto adjoining and belonging, situate at Leafield aforesaid, and now in the occupation of Joseph Shayler, unto and to the use of Mary Wiggins, Spinster, her heirs and assigns for ever. I devise all that Cottage or tenement with the hovel and garden thereto belonging, situate at Leafield aforesaid and now in the occupation of Phebe Dodd, unto and to the use of Charles Hadland, his heirs and assigns for ever. I devise all that Cottage or Tenement with the hovel and Garden thereto belonging situate at Leafield aforesaid, and now in the occupation of Stephen Empson, to the use of Elizabeth Empson, spinster (Daughter of John Empson) and her assigns for her life, without impeachment of waste, and from and after the decease of the said Elizabeth Empson unto and to the use of Daniel Hadland (Son of Charles Hadland) his heirs and assigns for ever. I devise all that piece or parcel of Freehold Land called or known by the name of Gowl's Close, situate at Crawley in the said County of Oxford, containing three acres and a half (more or less) unto and to the use of Alfred Pratley (Son of the said Caleb Pratley deceased) his heirs and assigns for ever. I devise all that piece or parcel of Freehold Land containing two acres and a half or thereabouts situate at Crawley aforesaid and adjoining or near to Blindwell Coppice and now in my own occupation, unto and to the use of David Pratley the younger, (Son of David Pratley the elder), his heirs and assigns for ever. I devise all those two pieces or parcels of Freehold Land containing seven acres (more or less) situate at Crawley aforesaid and adjoining or near to Spoonley Coppice unto and to the use of my Nephew Emanuel Pratley, his heirs and assigns for ever. And as to all my Personal Estate and Effects, and all the rest residue and remainder of my Real Estate, I give bequeath and devise the same respectively unto and equally between all the Children of my late Brother William Pratley who shall be living at the time of my decease. Subject to the payment out of my said Personal Estate (as the proper and primary fund for the payment thereof) of my funeral an testamentary expenses and debts, I devise all the hereditaments which at my death shall be vested in me upon any Trusts or by way of Mortgage, unto my Nephews David Pratley and Charles Hadland. Upon the trusts and subject to the equity of redemption which at my death shall be subsisting and capable of taking effect therein respectively, but the money secured on such Mortgages shall be taken as part of my Personal Estate. And I hereby appoint the said David Pratley and Charles Hadland, joint Executors of this my Will. In Witness whereof I the said John Pratley, have to this my last Will and Testament contained in this and two preceding sheets of paper set my hand this Sixth day of May One thousand eight hundred and sixty five - John Pratley - signed and acknowledged by the above named Testator, John Pratley, as his last Will and Testament, in the presence of us, present at the same time, and who in his presence, and in the presence of each other, hereunto subscribed our names as Witnesses - Alfred Foster Charlton, Clerk to Mr Rawlinson, Solr Chipping Norton - John Akerman Brooks, Grocer, Leafield -
On the Third day of April 1866, the Will of John Pratley, late of Leafield in the County of Oxford, Farmer, deceased, who died on the Seventh day of March 1866, at Leafield aforesaid, was proved in the District Registry attached to Her Majesty's Court of Probate at Oxford, by the Oaths of David Pratley of White Oak Green, in the Parish of Hailey, in the County of Oxford, Woodman, and Charles Hadland of Leafield aforesaid, Farm Bailiff, the Nephew of the Deceased, the Executors therein named, they having been first sworn duly to administer.
