CHIPPING NORTON.
DIVISION PETTY SESSIONS, April 28.
(Before B. J. Whippy, Esq., and the Rev. W.E.D. Carter.
John Pratley, of Ascott-under-Wychwood, was charged with violently assaulting his wife, Jane Pratley, with intent to do her grievous bodily harm, on the 23rd instant, at Ascott. It appeared that jealousy was the cause, and that on Tuesday last he injured her person in a manner unfit to detail in print and that her life had been in jeopardy. The wife was not able to attend, and defendant was, on the application of Inspector High, remanded till Wednesday, May 5th. |

Town Hall, Chipping Norton, april 12.
(Before the Rev. Thos. Harris, and Rev. W.E.D. Carter).
John Pratley, of Ascott, was charged by Jane Pratley, his wife, with assaulting her, with intent to do her grievous bodily harm. The defendant has been remanded twice on account of his wife being too ill to attend to give her evidence. The defendant stated that his wife had given him great provocation. Committed for 4 calendar months' hard labour. |
